Xiaomi India sells more than one million smartphones within 48 hours of festive season sale


The year 2017 so far have been excellent for Xiaomi especially in the Indian market. The Chinese device maker grabbed the second spot in the India smartphone market for the first time, opened physical Mi Home stores, and broke many sales record.

Xiaomi even recently kicked off its Diwali and Mi festive sale in India both online and offline. And now it is claiming to have sold over one million smartphone within 48 hours during the festive sales (September 21-22). Xiaomi says it sold more than 300 smartphones per minute in the two-day period. For comaprison during the year's festive sales it took Xiaomi 18 days to sell over one million smartphone.

According to Xiaomi, it was the number one brand during Flipkart and Amazon sale in the mobile category during the first 48 hours. The Redmi Note 4 was the highest selling smartphone during Flipkart's Big Billion Days sale, contributing significantaly to the overall sales figures. The Redmi Note 4 was available at a discouted price of Rs. 9,999 (vs. 10,999) for the 3GB RAM/32GB storage model, and Rs. 10,999 (Rs. 2,000 off) for the 4GB RAM/64GB storage model.

Further more, eight out of top nine selling smartphones in the smartphone category on Amazon India were Xiaomi products. Also the Redmi 4, Mi Air Purifier 2, 10000mAh Mi Power bank 2 and Mi Band HRX edition were the number one products in their respective categories on Amazon India.

As mentioned earlier Xiaomi is having a dream run in the Indian smartphone market this year. Just last month it announced that the company sold more than 25 million smartphones in the country since its debut in 2014. Xiaomi is also expected to launch the bezel free Mi MIX 2 country anytime soon.
