Windows 10 For Smartphones Is Called Windows 10, Here Are The New Features

Microsoft at its Windows 10 Press Event demonstrated how its Windows 10 OS will work on Phones. The OS was shown running on Lumia 1520 at the press event.

Windows 10 will be the official name of the next Microsoft operating system for smartphones. The new OS will make your smartphone work more seamlessly with its new features.

 The new features shown in the demo include:
  • New action center that syncs with Windows 10 PC version. You can expand the action buttons on the top and then swipe to dismiss single items. Also you to peek more into the notification without opening the app.
  • There will be one store for phone, PC and Xbox. 
  • The recently installed apps go to the top of the app list.
  • It has a revamped setting page which is an universal app now
  • The virtual keyboard can pull of to one side in Windows 10 and can move around
  • A microphone button sits right above the keyboard for verbal dictation. 
  • The start menu allows for more personalization with customizable background image which sit behind UI tiles
  • New Photo App, Outlook mail client, calender and Microsoft Office Suite with cross platform capabilities
  • It integrates with Skype into mobile messaging system. Joe Belfiore, Corporate Vice President of Operating Systems at Microsoft said that the Skype messaging will automatically detect when users have a Skype account and transition to sending messages on that service instead
  • Project Spartan Web Browser
The first Windows 10 build for smartphones will come in February to members of the Windows Insider Program.

Microsoft also announced that the next flagship handset will ariive later this year alongside Windows 10 Launch.
