Qualcomm Introduces Snapdragon 620, 618, 425 And 415 Processors, Brings High-End Features To Mid-Range Devices
Mobile Chip manufacturer Qualcomm announed four new processor for the mid-range mobile devices - Snapdragon 620, 618, 425 and 415 chipset. The four new chipset will be capable of 4K video recording and play and support 4G LTE. It will also have dual channel LPDDR3 memory to deliver high end performance to mid range smartphones and tablets.
Qualcomm states that the Snapdragon 620 and 618 chipsets have features that was available on the Snapdragon 800 tier which include dual ISP camera, 4K video capture and playback, HEVC hardware encoding, enhanced W-Fi connectivity and better gaming experience.
The 400 tier chips features a 64-bit octa-cor ARM Cortex-A53 CPU clocked at 1.7GHz. The Snapdragon 618 chipset has a 64-bit dual-core 1.8GHz ARM Cortex-A72 and quad-core 1.2GHz A53CPU.
The Snapdragon 620 features a 64-bit quad-core 1.8GHZ cortex A-72 and quad core 1.2GHz Cortex A-53 CPU. The chipsets come equipped with Qualcomm's Quick charge 2.0 technology for fast charging. Other features include Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 801.11ac and A-GPS wireless connectivity support.
Qualcomm also unveiled X8 and X5 discrete LTE modem to provide hi-speed data access through the four newly announced chipsets. The X8 LTE modem is expected to deliver 300Mbps download speeds and 100 Mbps upload speeds.

Qualcomm on its press release stated that the Snapdragon 415 chipset is expected to be in commercial devices in the first half of 2015. The Snapdragon 620, 618 and 425 processors are expected to be in commercial devices in the second half of 2015.
