Samsung launched the Tizen-powered Samsung Z1 in Bangladesh. The Z1 was launched in India last month.
Commenting on the launch Mr. Choon Soo Moon, Managing Director, Samsung Mobile Bangladesh said- "The smartphone market in Bangladesh is rapidly evolving, but many consumers are still using their feature phones to remain connected. We have customized the Z1 to meet the unique requirements of the local Bangladeshi consumers for a personal and reliable mobile experience, so they upgrade to a smartphone.”
The Samsung Z1 features a 4-inch WVGA PLS display, 1.2GHz dual core processor with Mali 400 GPU, 768MB RAM, 4GB inbuilt storage [microSD card support upto 64GB], Tizen 2.3 OS, 3.1-megapixel rear camera, VGA front camera, 1500mAh battery, 3G, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.1. The handset will be available in Black, White and Wine Red colour variants.
Customers purchasing the Z1 handset from Mobile phone operator Robi will get a special package on the network, which includes 300 minutes talk-time (Robi to Robi), 100 minutes talk-time (Robi to other numbers) and 1GB data for the first month.
It comes pre-loaded with Prayertimes Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter as well as local portals Bdjobs.com, bdnews24.com, bikroy.com, ekhanei.com and Prothom Alo.
The Samsung Z1 is priced at BDT 6,900/- ($90) and is available for purchase in Bangladesh.
Despite concerns that Samsung's Tizen powered Z1 would face stiff competition in Indian market where handset makers are touting low-end smartphone, Samasung says that the Z1 have received positive response in the country. It seems positive enough to push Tizen-powered Z1 into a second country.
