Meizu entering the Indian market soon, to bring M1 Note

Chinese smartphone brand Meizu is set to enter the Indian market. Meizu will bring the Mi Note to India.

Although there is no official word on which Meizu handset will launch first, some popular tech sites report that it is going to be the M1 Note. In addition last week Meizu's online international store updated its home page with a banner image to announce the M1 Note will soon be offered to international buyers.

Meizu on it twitter account said "Greetings to all the #Meizu fans in India. We are coming!". A facebook page dedicated for Meizu India is now online and the company is running a contest.

"Giveaways for fans in India Only Enter the contest by telling your Meizu story and mentioning 3 friends to have a chance to win! We will announce the first winner on March 21, stay tuned," wrote the company on its Facebook page.

The Meizu M1 Note features a 5.5-inch (1920x1080 pixels) IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and is powered by 1.7GHz 64-bit Octa-Core MediaTek processor. It houses 2GB DDR3 RAM and 16GB or 32 internal storage. Camera features include 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 5-megapixel front facing camera. It runs FlymeOS 4 based on Android 4.4 KitKat. It is backed by 3140mAh battery.

The Mi Note is priced at CNY 999 ($160 | Rs. 10,000) in China. The handset is expected to go on sale in India starting April for around Rs. 7000 ($110)

Chinese smartphone brands have taken the Indian handset market by storm. In India many Chinese smartphone brands like Xiaomi, Vivo, OnePlus and Lenovo are wooing Indian customers. If Meizu hits the right marketing strategy (partnering with e-commerce site to sell its handsets and aggressively pricing its smartphones), it will give headache to other Chinese brands in India.
