Samsung to manufacture the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge in India soon


Asim Varsi, Vice President, Samsung India revealed that the company could soon start manufacturing Galaxy 6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in India. The announcement was made at Samsung's Event in New Delhi, where the company launched the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge in India.

During the launch event, Samsung praised the contribution of its R&D teams in India towards the development and design of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.The company also praised its R&D team in Bangalore who were helpful in designing the new browser as well as sine of the devices imaging and multimedia features.

In a Q&A session Samsung said that it plans to manufacture the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge in India. The company already manufactures it Tizen powered Samsung Z1 in India.

The company will use its facilities in India to start manufacturing the new flagships to meet the domestic demands. Samsung has two manufacturing facilities and three R&D centers in India which is used to manufacture smartphones and other devices in the country.

Even though both Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will soon be manufactured in India, Samsung will not drop the prices of both the smartphone. "We plan to stick to these prices for the near future” said Samsung. But it confirmed that the phones manufactured in India will be meant for local market and not for export to other countries.

Today Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge were launched in India. The pricing of Galaxy S6 starts from Rs. 49,900 while the Galaxy S6 Edge price starts from Rs. 58,900. Both device will go on Pre-order starting today and will be available starting April 10.
