Huawei shipped over 100 million phones in 2015

Huawei has announced that it has shipped more than 100 million smartphones in 2015. This puts the company right behind Samsung and Apple, both of which also have sales over 100 million.

Huawei's success has been driven largely by complete refocusing of its brand this year. The Chinese smartphone maker has released a range of device this year, which include budget and the more expensive P8 and Mate S.

Huawei's  rival, Xiaomi, is now trailing behind with 75 million sale. It already surpassed Xiaomi to become the number one smartphone maker in China in October this year. Currently Huawei is ranked as the third largest smartphone maker in the world.

The company recently launched its Mate 8 flagship in China and is gearing up bring it to the US market along with Honor 5X and a smartwatch. The announcement will be made at CES 2016, Las Vegas. It has already entered European market under the Honor brand. Huawei also teamed up with Google on the Nexus 6P smartphone, bringing its name to new markets on the back of premium phone.

Overall, Huawei had a very eventful year and was able to grab everyone's attention. It will be interesting to see how they do in 2016.
