Samsung Galaxy S7 rumored to have iris scanner and come in two sizes

There have been lots of rumors and reports of the Galaxy S7 surfacing now a days. Earlier this month reports suggested that the Galaxy S7 will comes with pressure sensitive screen. Now the latest word from rumor mill is that the Galaxy S7 could sport a Iris scanner. In addition, a report published by South Korea's Electronic Times claims that the Galaxy S7 will be available in two different sizes.

With Iris scanner, users can unlock the phone by simply looking at it, verify identity and basically do all the functions that a fingerprint scanner can do. Because everyone has unique patterns in their eyes, the iris scanner is the most precise type of biometrics available. The report adds that the addition of iris scanner on Galaxy S7 could hike the price of the smartphone, making it more expensive than its predecessor, the Galaxy S6.

Samsung is also expected to launch the Galaxy S7 in two different screen sizes, stated a report published by Electronic Times. Samsung will launch a 5.2-inch flat screen version as well as a 5.5-inch curved screen (Galaxy S7 edge) of the Galaxy S7. The Galaxy S7 edge+ will be rebranded as Galaxy S7 edge, while a 5.2-inch edge version will be ditched.

The report further states that Samsung's initial production would include 5 million Galaxy S7, the division between the two variants being 3.3 million Galaxy S7 units and 1.6 million Galaxy S7 edge units. Samsung will apparently start the mass production of the phones in February

The Galaxy S7 will not entirely be a new smartphone but an upgraded and improved version of the Galaxy S6, similar to what Apple has been doing with the iPhones. The Galaxy S7 is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 820 SoC, and there will be another variant with Samsung's own Exynos 8 Octa 8890 SoC. It expected to be unveiled at the Samsung Unpacked 2016 event at MWC Barcelona in February.
