TP-LINK enters mobile device maket with Neffos, set for Q1 2016 launch


TP-LINK a brand know for its networking products is foraying into mobile device markets with its new brand line Neffos (pronounced "nef'-os"). The brand name, Neffos, is taken from the Greek language, which means "clouds" and has an additional meaning that is "very exciting", when understood in the context.

The launch of Neffos marks TP-LINK's expansion from making products such as router, smart home system, cloud service to mobile devices to expand the scope of business. TP-Link in a press statement states that its smartphone brand will focus on offering a user-friendly design that is "smart and simple." The company claims that it holds 42.9 percent market share globally in Wi-Fi products.

TP-LINK will launch Neffos branded products in Q1 2016 (reportedly in February). No specific product range, prices or launch dates have been announced for India.

Commenting on the announcement, Jeffrey Chao, President of TP Link said, "Our original intention of developing Neffos was about creating a unique digital experience by establishing a seamless connection between people and devices. We believe a real smartphone could provide a sense of joy of technology for users while at the same time offer a simple lifestyle for them in such era of information explosion, so that for users, the smartphone is not just a tool, but a fashion icon to reflect oneself."
