Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Prime to land in India soon; Xiaomi teases 'new secret product launch' on December 15
Xiaomi and Amazon India is teasing the launch of Redmi Note 2 Prime in the country. Amazon India also stated that it will reveal more details soon.
The Redmi Note 2 Prime was unveiled in China back in August this year, but never reached India. The reason being Ericsson's patent issue with Xiaomi, which barred Xiaomi from selling MediaTek powered handset in the country. However, earlier this month Qualcomm and Xiaomi entered into a 3G and 4G China patent licence agreement that would allow Xiaomi to sell MediaTek equipped handsets in India.
To recap Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Prime was launched alongside Redmi Note 2 in China in August. It sports 5.5-inch 1080p display and is equipped with MediaTek Helio X10 SoC, 2GB RAM, 32GB expandable storage, 13-megapixel rear camera (w/ LED flash, PDAF) and 5-megapixel front shooter. It runs MIUI 7 based on Android 5.0 Lollipop, supports 4G LTE and is fueled by 3060mAh battery. In China the handset costs CNY 999 that is approximately 10,400 when converted to Indian currency.
In addition the Chinese smartphone maker also announced that it will be launching a 'secret new product' on December 15 in the country. Xiaomi's secret new product is not the Redmi Note Prime 2, but a new device. We will have to wait until then to know what the new product is.
