Moto G 3rd gen starts receiving Android Marshmallow in India


Motorola has started rolling out Android Marshmallow update for the Moto G 3rd gen. The update is already being rolled out in the U.S and Canada for Moto G 3rd gen unlocked (XT1540) variant.

The update package is 2GB and carries the software version 24.11.25.en. US. It brings features such as Doze Mode, that extends battery life, app permission, Google now on Tap and simpler volume controls. In addition the update also brings cumulative security patches.

The new firmware is being rolled out over the air and you will be automatically notified when the update is available. If you haven't been notified you can do a manual check by going to settings > About Phone > System Update.

The Moto G 3rd gen was launched in India in July and  is considered to be one of the best value-for-the money smartphone of 2015. The specs include 5-inch 720p display, Snapdragon 410 SoC with Adreno 306 GPU, 1GB / 2GB RAM, 8GB / 16GB internal storage, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, 4G LTE support and 2740mAh battery.
