Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge to be water resistant, support microSD card
According to a report published by Venturebeat, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will have a microSD card slot and be water resistant. To remind you, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge missed out on these features.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will accept up to 200GB microSD card. They will also be IP67 certified making them dust and water resistant. They will also comes with larger batteries, with Galaxy S7 having a 3000mAh (up from 2500mAh) and S7 Edge packing a 3600mAh battery (up from 2600mAh).
The Galaxy S7 will sport a 5.1-inch flat display while the S7 Edge will comes with 5.5-inch dual-curved display. The resolution on both the device is said to be Super AMOLED at 1440 x 2560 pixels, along with the addition of always-on display (AOD) functionality that offers a glace screen. With this feature, users will be able to glance at notification and other info without fully turning the screen on. This feature appears to be similar to Motorola's Active display.
Both the devices will be powered by Samsung's new octa-core Exynos 8890 processor, however, depending upon some markets, some Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge models may be equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processor. They will come with 4GB RAM and with storage option of 32GB or 64GB. As for the camera, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will sport a 12-megapixel rear camera with larger sensors and f/1.7 aperture. This is down from 16-megapixel present on the Galaxy S6 family. The front facing camera will be 5-megapixel.
Current rumors claim Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge in a press event prior to MWC in February, followed by official launch in March. However, there is no confirmation about it at the moment.
