Line is shutting down MixRadio streaming service
Japan based LINE corporation, better known for its messaging app Line, has announced that it is shutting down MixRadio music streaming service in the coming weeks.
The company decided to do so because the music streaming service is not turning out be financially viable. The shutdown is not only due to financial reasons, as the company mentions that the "priorities of Line Corporation” also played a part in the decision. “LINE has determined that future growth would be difficult to ensure and decided to discontinue the MixRadio music streaming service,” said LINE in a blog post.
For those unaware, MixRadio, was originally launched by Nokia, and when Microsoft acquired Nokia's phone business, it sold MixRadio to LINE Corporation in December 2014. After LINE acquired MixRadio it made the service available for Android and iOS platforms in May last year. The service was also available in India exclusively for Samsung's Android and Tizen running devices.
