Viacom18 launches digital video-on-demand platform VOOT


Media and entertainment major Viacom 18 launched its digital video on demand platform VOOT. It is a 50:50 joint venture between Viacom Group and Reliance Industries

VOOT will offer 17,000 hours of network content and will have a large repository of original content in both long and short formats across drama and comedy genres. It will roll out VOOT original which will include celebrities such as Gulshan Grover, Baba Seghal, Alok Nath and other.

VOOT has planned six originals which includes India's first mockumentary - Badman featuring Gulshan Grover, Soadies, a comic spin off of MTV Roadies featuring Baba Seghal and adult celebrity chat show Sinskari hosted by Alok Nath.

In addition Viacom 18 will move its entire content library including COLORS, MTV and Nick to be digitally available only on VOOT. For kids, it will also have some of the most popular character including Dora, Spongebob, Motu Patlu, Chhota Bheem and Pokemon. VOOT also comes with pin protection so that children don't watch anything except the kids content.

VOOT will be available on Android, iOS and Web. It is free to use, but will feature advertisements.
