HTC working on M1 (Marlin) and S1 (sailfish) Android N Nexus devices

Earlier this year it was rumored that HTC will make two nexus devices this year for Google, which was followed by a report that suggested Google and HTC had signed a three-year contract for the upcoming Nexus devices. Now more information have surfaced online coming from reliable sources, backing earlier reports and rumors.

Evan Blass (@evleaks) says that “HTC is building a pair of Android N devices for Google” which are code-named M1 and S1. He did not add anything else, but Android Police reported that the code-names suggested by Blass are based upon 'Marlin' and 'Sailfish', named after aquatic life, which Google uses for Nexus devices.The report adds that the Marlin reference was spotted in AOSP Gerrit code review tool last month.

Additionally a Google Nexus 6P variant which is claimed to be HTC M1 (or Marlin) surfaced on Geekbench. As per the benchmark HTC M1 is equipped with Snapdragon 820 SoC, and 4GB RAM and runs Android N. It gets a score of 2115 on single-core and 4903 on multi-core test. Recent reports have suggested that Google is testing Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 SoC for this year's Nexus smartphones.

If reports are to be believed, one of the upcoming Nexus phone will have 5-inch display, while the other will have a bigger 5.5-inch display. We can expect Google to shed more light on the upcoming Nexus devices at this year's I/O event in May.
