Lenovo A7000 is getting updated to Android Marshmallow in India
Lenovo has started pushing Android Marshmallow update for the A7000 handset in India. The update is being rolled out over-the-air (OTA) and the download package weighs in at 1.3GB.
The Android Marshmallow update for A7000 has the build number A7000-a_S223_160405_ROW, and brings Android Marshmallow features including Doze, App permissions, Google Now on Tap and more. The update could add support for TheatreMax (not confirmed) and includes Android security patch for March. The update is also expected to include fix for the touchscreen problems that some users were expereince with their A7000.
You can check for the update at Settings > About Phone > System Update. Before updating make sure that you've 2GB of space on the phone, and connect to a good WiFi network.
Lenovo last month released Android Marshmallow to K3 Note. Besides A7000 and K3 Note, the Android Marshmallow is expected to hit Vibe X3, Vibe S1, Vibe P1 and A7000 Plus in the coming weeks. The recently released K4 Note and K5 Plus is also scheduled to receive the update. Unfortunately the time-frame is not known.
To recall the Lenovo A7000 was launced in India in April last year for a price of Rs. 8,999, but you can grab it now for Rs. 8,000 on Amazon India. The specs include 5.5-inch 720p display, 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6752M SoC, 2GB RAM, 8GB inbuilt expandable storage, 8MP rear & 5MP front camera, 4G LTE and a 2900mAh battery.
