Microsoft Surface Phone may feature Snapdragon 830 SoC, 8GB RAM
Microsoft's next major flagship smartphone will be the Surface Phone, which going to replace the Lumia line up, and is expected to be released by early 2017. Now Microsoft has accidentally leaked details of of the Surface Phone.
The details surfaced on minimum hardware requirement page for Windows 10 Mobile on Microsoft's official website that mentions MSM8998 SoC as a compatible processor with the OS which many believe is the code-name for Qualcomm's next SoC 830.The listing has now been removed.
According to reports, analyst suggests that the Snapdragon 830 SoC could support up to 8GB RAM, and be built using Samsung's 10nm fabrication process. Since, Snapdrgaon 830 SoC is expected to support up to 8GB RAM, the Suface Phone could pack the same amount of memory, at-least the high-end model. Notably, Qualcomm is yet to announce details of Snapdragon 830 SoC.
Earlier reports suggest that the Surface Phone will arrive in three models which will be aimed at consumer, Business and prosumer/enthusiast. The phone is being built by the same Microsoft engineering team that built the Surface Pro tablet and Surface Book, led by Panos Panay.
