Possible Moto E 2016 appears on GFXBench, specs are out
GFXBenchmark website has outed specs of two phones, Lenovo XT1700 and XT1706. These could be Motorola phones and not Lenovo's since they have Motorola model numbers, the letters "XT" followed by numbers. Reports suggest that the XT1700 and XT1706 is Moto E 2016, and the model number could refer to two variants, 3G and 4G LTE.
The Moto E 2016 (XT1700) will have a 5-inch 720p display and is powered by 1GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735P SoC with Mali-T720 GPU and 2GB RAM inside, along with 16GB internal storage. It will get a 8-megapixel camera with LED flash, and 5-megapixel front camera. The XT1706 also features similar specs. Both the models run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
If the specs are true, than Moto E 2016 has got major upgrade in specs department as compared to the 2015 model. For comparision, the Moto E 2015 comes with 4.5-inch qHD (540 x 960 pixels) display, Snapdragon 410 SoC w/ Adreno 306 GPU, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, 5MP rear camera (no flash), and 0.3MP front camera.
To recall, Lenovo will bring the Moto branding under its name as 'Lenovo Moto', and the listing at GFXBench might be the first hint of it, and Moto E 2016 might be the first product under the new branding. Unfortunately it is not know when the handset will be launched, but since the Moto E 2015 was released around same time last year, we can expect the launch date nearing.
