Lenovo Z1 - powered by ZUK with Cyanogen OS landing in India on May 10
Lenovo's sub-brand ZUK is all set to make its Indian debut with the launch of its ZUK Z1 in the country on May 10. ZUK has gone a step further as it is preparing for a Crowd-sourced launch that will allow fans to launch the smartphone. Notably, in India, the handset will be called Lenovo Z1 powered by ZUK, and not ZUK Z1.
Meanwhile, Lenovo has also confirmed that the Z1 will run Cyanogen OS out of the box. Last year, Micromax got the sole right to sell Cyanogen powered devices in the country and due to this OnePlus was forced to remove the Cyanogen OS logo from OnePlus One beofre launching it in the country.
Currently, Micromax sub-brand YU's devices utilize Cyanogen OS, however, with Cyanogen and YU's partnership no longer exclusive, Lenovo will be able to ship its phone with Cyanogen OS in India. One advantage of having Cyanogen OS on phones is that users get many options to customize their phones.
To recap, the Lenovo ZUK Z1 was launched in China last year in August and sailed to international shores in October, and just recently the brand launched its second smartphone, the ZUK Z2 Pro.
