BlackBerry Hamburg could be a re-branded TCL Alactel Idol 4
Earlier this year BlackBerry CEO John Chen revealed that the company plans to launch two-mid range smartphones. Rumors suggested that the two phones will be code-named Hamburg (full touch screen) and Rome (w/ physical keyboard and touchscreen).
Now a smartphone spotted on WiFi Alliance website manufactured by China's TCL that produces the Alcatel line smartphones is claimed to be the BlackBerry Hamburg. The website shows a TCL handset called DETK-50 with model number STH100-2 running Android 6.0 Marshmallow with build number AAF295.
For reference the BlackBerry Priv carried the model number STV100-1 and DTEK is the name of privacy suite that comes loaded in the handset, which are some evidence to back the claims. Additionally, BlackBerry was rumored to be working with TCL to produce a version of Alcatel Idol 4 with BlackBerry branding.
It's worth noting that last month a BlackBerry handset with model number STH100-x code-named Hamburg was spotted on GFXBench. As per the listing BlackBerry Hamburg will feature 5.2-inch 1080p IPS display, Snapdragon 615 SoC, 3GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, 12MP rear camera (w/LED flash), 5MP front camera, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and NFC. The specs clearly suggests that phone will be positioned at mid-range segment. Interestingly Alcatel Idol 4 also featured the exact same specs, except for the processor.
