Facebook to force users to Messenger app; to end chats inside mobile web

Facebook in 2014, disabled messaging though its Android and iOS apps, instead forced users to receive or send message via its Messenger app. This resulted in several Facebook users switching to mobile web version of the service. Now, Facebook plans to disable messaging via its mobile web client as well.

TechCrunch reports that Facebook mobile web users are getting notification that says "“Your conversations are moving to Messenger. Soon you’ll only be able to view your messages from Messenger.”. Currently users can dismiss the notification and continue sending or receiving Facebook messages on their mobile web browser, but we can expect the support to end in the near future. The messages are currently appearing only for Android users.

A Facebook spokesperson reportedly stated that the social networking giant wants to offer the best possible messaging experience, and the Messenger app is the platform, which the company chose to provide, since it offers additional features. The report mentions that the change is likely to happen later this summer, and will force user to use the Messenger app for chatting.
