Samsung's next smartwatch is code-named Solaris and runs Tizen

According to a report from SamMobile, Samsung is working on its next-generation smartwatch, code-named Solis, which means Sun in the Spanish language. For reference the Gear S2 smartwatch was code-named Orbis.

Since the last Gear S2 used the codename Orbis (Orbis = Moon = Circle), and had a round display, the successor will also have circular display (Solis = Sun = round). The reports mentions that the smartwatch will run on Samsung's home grown Tizen platform instead of Android wear, and will come with an updated user interface, to take advantage of the rotating bezel system.

The model numbers for Soils will be SM-R760, SM-R765, SM-R770, SM-R765V and SM-R765S. The last two models are carrier variants.

Unfortunately, the report doesn't mention the specifications of the smartwatch, but, we can expect Solaris to have a larger display, longer battery life and more functionality.

To recap, the Gear S2 offered an 1.2-inch circular Super AMOLED display, IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, NFC support for mobile payment, hear rate sensor and wireless charging.
