NVIDIA reportedly cancels follow-up to the Shield Tablet K1
NVIDIA introduced the gaming tablet SHIELD with Tegra K1 processor in 2014, followed by SHIELD Tablet K1 in 2015. The company was reportedly working on a new model and the tablet was also spotted on FCC, but now it appears to be cancelled.
Android Police has outed a document which is a dismissal request letter that was submitted by NVIDIA to FCC. The letter states that the company decided to cancel the follow-up to the SHIELD Tablet K1 due to 'business reasons". Exact details have not been mentioned.
One of the possible reason for the cancellation could be the decline of tablet market, which is losing its position to 2-in-1 tablet with detachable keyboard letting users to use it as a laptop when needed.
NVIDIA is currently focusing on high-end graphics hardware for PCs, virtual reality, automotive industry, artificial intelligence and more.
