Samsung launches new Gear VR headset with USB Type-C in India for Rs. 7290
Samsung at its Galaxy Note7 unpacked event in India launched the new GearVR headset alongside the Galaxy Note7 flagship, Gear Fit 2 fitness tracker, and the Gear IconX wireless earbuds.
The new Gear VR sports the same design as the first Gear VR, but comes with USB Type-C port and slightly wider viewing angle. It now offers 101 degrees of immersive video and gaming experience, compared to 96 degrees on the previous model.
It has a new touchpad that is located on the side which can be used to navigate the VR headset's menu system and play games. There's also a new dedicated button to open main Gear VR menu alongside back button.
The new Gear VR packs sensor like accelerometer, gyrometer and proximity. It sports a thicker and softer padding making it more comfortable to wear, and comes in blue back finish.
It makes connection with the Galaxy Note7 via USB Type-C port. There's also an adapter which offers backward compatibility with the older devices including Galaxy Note5, Galaxy S6,S6 edge, S6 edge+ and Galaxy S7, S7 edge.
The new Samsung Gear VR is priced at Rs. 7290 and will be available along with the Galaxy Note7 starting from September 2. As an introductory offer, Samsung is offering the Gear VR for Rs. 1990 for Note7 pre-bookings from 22nd to 30th August.
