New Reliance Jio JioFi 4G portable hotspot with OLED display launched for Rs. 1,999

The Reliance Jio JioFi 4G is a portable wireless hotspot device, which lets you give internet access to WiFi enabled devices like smartphones and tablets on the go. The device only had LED indicators to display information like battery and network status. Now the company has launched a new model, that comes with an OLED display to show the information and an improved battery.

Design-wise, the new JioFi is larger than its predecessor and has a squarish shape with smooth edges. It sports a sleek matte finish design, instead of glossy egg-shaped on the original JioFi wireless hotspot. The OLED display is on the top.

The new OLED display will show whether the power is on/ off, battery status, 4G signal strength and WiFi status. The new JioFi 4G now has a bigger 2600mAh battery (vs. 2300mAh on previous model), which is rated to deliver up to five hours of usage and 260 hours of standby time.

Similar to previous model, the new JioFi 4G has micro USB port, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, microSD card slot and SIM slot. Unfortunately, now you'll be able to connect up to 10 devices instead of 31 at once. You can also connect your WiFi enabled devices to the Wi-Fi hotspot, and use Jio4GVoice app to make HD voice and video calls.

The new JioFi router has been priced at Rs. 1,999 and is available via Reliance Digital stores in select cities across the country. It comes bundled with Jio 4G SIM.
