Vodafone India announces 10GB 4G data at the price of 1GB plan for new 4G phones


In a bid to take on Reliance Jio's free data offer, Vodafone has introduced a new data plan that offers 10GB of 4G data at the price of 1GB plan (Rs. 251) to its subscribers.

Under Vodafone Supernet, a customer with a new smartphone will get extra 9GB of 4G data for up to three months if he/she recharges with 1GB plan. The new 1GB+9GB data offer is only applicable on data packs of 1GB and higher starting at Rs. 251, and will have a validity of minimum 28 days. Apart from extra 9GB data, users will also get access to free subscription to TV shows, movies and music on Vodafone Play. Both prepaid and postpaid customers can avail this offer till December 31 2016.

The company says that the offer is available for only those 4G enabled smartphone, which were not used on its network in the last six months. The new offer will be available in Circles where Vodafone offers 3G or 4G services.

Vodafone says that, customers in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkatta will get 9GB of data, if he/she recharge with 1GB or above packs. While customer in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka, Gujrat, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Goa, Assam, Rajasthan and Northeast states will get 9GB of 3G data only during  limited time between 12am to 6am.

Following the commercial launch of Reliance Jio services, major telecom operators have come up with new mobile data plans. Recently, Airtel launched a 90 data data plan for 4G users at Rs. 1,495 which offers unlimited 4G data for three months, but there's a catch. It carries an FUP of 30GB, post which the speed will be reduced to 64 kbps.
