Apple reduces prices of all USB-C adapters and cables till the end of 2016

Following customer complaints that the new MacBook Pro's USB-C/ Thunderbolt 3 only implementation of its ports is causing inconveniences, Apple has announced price cuts on their USB Type-C adapters and Thunderbolt 3 peripherals.

The USB Type-C price has been slashed up to half, while the third party USB Type-C and Thunderbolt 3 peripherals pricing have been reduced by 25% and SanDisk’s USB-C SD card reader by 40%.

Here are the revised pricing for Apple Adapters:
  • USB-C to USB adapter – $9 or Rs. 600 (from $19 or Rs. 1,269)
  • Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter – $29 or Rs. 1,940  (from $49 or Rs. 3,272)

  • Multiport adapter with HDMI, USB, and USB-C – $49 or Rs. 3,272 (from $69 or Rs. 4,600)
  • Multiport adapter with VGA, USB, and USB-C – $49 or Rs. 3,272 (from $69 or Rs. 4,600)
“We recognize that many users, especially pros, rely on legacy connectors to get work done today and they face a transition. We want to help them move to the latest technology and peripherals, as well as accelerate the growth of this new ecosystem. Through the end of the year, we are reducing prices on all USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 peripherals we sell, as well as the prices on Apple’s USB-C adapters and cables.” said Apple in a statement.

Do note that the discounts will last till the end of this year. Moreover, if you've recently purchased an adapter for the MacBook Pros, Apple is refunding the difference between those of the reduced prices as well.
