Xiaomi India sells more than two million smartphones in Q3 2016


Xiaomi is having a success run in India these days, having crossed milestones in rapid succession. Previously the  company claimed it sold over 2.3 million units of Redmi Note 3 and over one million of Redmi 3S/3S Prime, since it launch. Also a report from IDC revealed that Xiaomi for the first time made it to the top five manufacture list based on shipments with 7.4 percent market share.

Now the Chinese smartphone maker has announced that it has sold over two million smartphone in Q3 2016 for the very first time, a YoY growth over 150 percent compared to the same quarter last year.

"We crossed 2 million plus sales in one-quarter in the third quarter for the first time, compared with our performance last year, we have attained more than 150 percent growth year-on-year," said Manu Jain, Xiaomi's India head of operations.

Xiaomi has been playing an important role in the online smartphone market in the country grabbing the second spot. IDC had reported that online share of smartphones increased to 31.6 percent due to stong performance by China brands especially Xiaomi. The report further stated that the Redmi Note 3 and Redmi 3S Prime fueled the online shipments to a large extent for company.

To refresh, the Redmi Note 3 is available for Rs. 9,999 (2GB RAM/16GB storage) and Rs. 11,999 (3GB RAM/32GB storage) while the Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime costs Rs. 6,999 and Rs. 8,999 respectively.
