HTC has an announcement 'for U' on January 12

HTC has sent out invites for an event to be held on January 12 which has the words "for U" on a blue backgraound, without revealing what it has in store.

The event is scheduled just days after CES 2017 concludes and it's unclear whether HTC will launch a new product or have to make an announcement. 

That said, HTC has been working on a few products. HTC could unveil a new smartphone. We have been hearing about HTC Ocean MediaTek Helio P10 powered HTC X10 (successor on X9) for quite some time.  

Apart from smartphones, HTC has been involved in the VR market and reportedly working on a new smartwatch. So we can expect announcement related to any one of these or the company could be planning to enter a new product category. For instance, in the past, HTC forayed into the action camera market with HTC Re, and into the wearable segment with HTC Grip smartband. That's all we can think off right now.

We will have to wait till January 12 to know what the announcement is. Hope HTC reveals more details in the next few days.
