BSNL now offering 3G data at just Rs. 36 per GB

State run teleco BSNL has revised rates for its existing 3G data plans for its prepaid subscribers, bringing down the cost of per GB data to as low as Rs. 36, under a special pack, to counter threat from Reliance Jio, which is offering free 4G service (FUP of 1GB) till March 31, 2017.

The Rs. 291 plan will now offer 8GB of data with a validity of 28 days, to prepaid users than 2GB data offered earlier. This is equal to about Rs. 36 per GB (291 ÷ 8).

There's also a Rs. 78 plan that gives prepaid subscribers 2GB of 3G data (1GB earlier), and comes with a validity of five days.

BSNL says that the 3G data at Rs. 36 per GB is one of the lowest in the industry. The new special packs are now available across the country.
