New update for nubia Z9 mini adds support for VoLTE

ZTE sub-brand nubia launched the budget nubia Z9 mini smartphone in India back in 2015 running Android Lollipop based nubia 2.8.

Now nubia Z9 mini is getting a new software update. This is not Marshmallow or Nougat update, but bumps the nubia software to v4.0 and adds support for VoLTE, which means you can now make HD voice calls over LTE networks.

Apart from VoLTE nubia 4.0 also brings Android security patch and camera upgrades. It also includes tweaks to the UI, improved calendar app, new file manager and nubia's patented Frame interactive technology, that lets you interact with the phone through the screen edges.

The update is not available over-the-air (OTA), and you'll need to download the nubia 4.0 ROM manually, and flash it to the phone. The ROM and installation instruction is available on nubia India website.  On the website, click Support > Download > ROM, and then select the Z9 mini.

For a quick recap of the specs, the nubia Z9 mini flaunts a premium metal and glass design, and comes with 5-inch Gorilla Glass 3 display, Snapdragon 615 chip, 2GB RAM, 16GB expandable storage, 16MP Sony IMX234 rear camera, 8MP Sony IMX179 front camera, dual-SIM slots and 3000mAh battery. It was launched in India for Rs. 16,999 and was available exclusively via Amazon India, but now, it appears to be out of stock.
