Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017), A7 (2017) goes on sale in India


Samsung launched the 2017 edition of Galaxy A5 and A7 in India earlier this month. Today, the South Korean tech giant has started selling the phones in the country through its e-stores as well as retail stores across the country.

The Galaxy A5 (2017) is priced at Rs. 28,990, while the Galaxy A7 (2017) carries a price tag of Rs. 33,490, and will be available in Black Sky and Gold Sand colors. 

To refresh, the Galaxy A is Samsung's premium mid-range line up, offering the same design as the company's flagship Galaxy S line up, at a budget. The 2017 edition of Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 borrows the metal and glass design with IP68 rating (for water and dust resistance) from Samsung's popular flagship, the Galaxy S7. It also features, Always-on display, which means, the phones will show basic information like calendar, notifications for missed calls and more on the screen while on standby.

As for the specs, the Galaxy A5 and A7 2017 edition feature the same set of specs, except for the screen size and battery capacity. The Galaxy A5 2017 has 5.2-inch display and packs 3000mAh battery, while the Galaxy A7 2017 gets a bigger 5.7-inch display and 3600mAh battery.

Both have Full HD Super AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 4 protection, 1.9GHz octa-core Exynos 7880 chip, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage and 16MP f/1.9 front & rear camera.

Other specifications include dual-SIM slots, microSD card slot, 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, NFC, USB Type-C port, fingerprint scanner, fast charging and Samsung Pay support. It runs Android Marshmallow out of the box, but is expected to get Nougat in the near future.
