Nokia 6 receiving Android 7.1.1 update ahead of global release


HMD Global resurrected Nokia brand globally by launching the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 with Android Nougat 7.0 on-board at MWC 2017. At the same event the company promised to roll out latest software updates along with monthly security patches for its phones.

Now keeping its promise, Nokia has rolled out a major software update to one of the phones. Ahead of the global roll out, the Nokia 6 is being updated to Android 7.1.1, which currently runs on a handful of devices including Pixel Phones, Nexus 5X/6P, OnePlus 3/3T and ZTE Axon 7.



The Android 7.1.1 Nougat update comes with the build number 00CN_3_170 and weighs 369MB in size. In-order for the update to download and install, you need have atleast 616MB of free storage on the device.

As per the changelog Android 7.1.1 for Nokia 6 enhances power saving and background management to offer better battery life. The update also adds support for 4G/3G dual-SIM dual-Standby. Also all the preinstalled apps and Nokia USB driver has been updated to the latest versions. Lastly the update includes the Google's latest April security patch fixes.

The Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia Android smartphones along with the 2017 Nokia 3310 are expected to release in major market by end of May or early June.
