OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T will get Android O, confirms OnePlus CEO

While OnePlus is readying to unleash its next flagship killer, the OnePlus 5, it has some good news for OnePlus 3 users. The company has confirmed that the 2016 flagships, the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will get Google's latest Android O.

The news was shared by OnePlus CEO Pete Lau on his Twitter. As usual the time frame was not revealed, but we can expect the roll out to begin sometime towards the end of 2017 or early 2018. As of now Android O is still in beta stage.

It's worth mentioning that OnePlus  discontinued the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T globally, however, it will be available in select markets including India and China until the end of this year. Although they will be discontinued, OnePlus has promised to bring software update and support for both devices.

That said, the OnePlus is yet to release Android Nougat to the OnePlus 2, which was released back in 2015. Also the company is mum about future software updates for the device as well. It appears that OnePlus has no plans to update OnePlus 2 to Nougat.

Meanwhile, OnePlus is all set to launch the OnePlus 5 this summer, which accroding to rumors will take place on June 15. The company has already confirmed that the device will feature Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform, and is working with photography benchmark group DxO to enhance the camera on the OnePlus 5. It is most likely to ship with Android Nougat.
