Motorola Moto Z2 Play landing in India on June 8


The Moto Z2 Play was finally announced last week along with four new Moto Mods: Gamepad Mod, SoundBoost 2 Mod, Moto TurboPower Pack Mod and Style-Shell Mod with wireless charging.

And today, Moto India has revealed that it will launch the smartphone in India on June 8. Pre-bookings will also open on the same day, and it appears that the phone will be available through offline market as well. 

Motorola is also teasing launch offers as well. These include interest free-EMI's for 10 months from Bajaj Finance and Homecredit, if you pre-book the Z2 Play by paying Rs. 2,000 upfront. At select stores, you'll also be able to buy the Z2 Play through interest free EMIs on your credit card. Also, customers pre-booking the phone will get Moto Armor Pack, which includes "protective accessories" that will provide protection for the Moto Z2 Play. Motorola will also offer "great pre-booking offers" for Moto Mods as well, but did not detail the offer.

To recap the specs, the Moto Z2 Play features 5.5-inch Full HD Gorilla Glass 3 display, octa-core Snapdragon 626 processor, fingerprint scanner and 3000mAh battery. The camera department includes 12MP f/1.7 rear camera withd dual-LED flash, Dual-Pixel Autofocus, Laser Auto focus and 4K video recording capabilities. On the front it has 5MP f/2.2 selfies camera, also assisted by dual-LED flash.

Motorola will offer the Moto Z2 Play in two variants: 3GB RAM/32GB storage, and 4GB RAM/64GB storage in Lunar Gray, Nimbus Blue and Fine Gold hues. However, it is not known, which color or RAM/ROM varints will be released in India.

Other specs include 4G w/ VoLTE, 3.5mm audio jack, NFC, USB Type-C, dual-SIM slots and microSD card slot. The device is just 5.9mm thick, and runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box.

The Moto Z2 Play prices start at $499 in the US which is around Rs. 32,000, so the expect the Indian pricing to be somewhere around that mark. We will get to know the official pricing, availability and launch offer details on Thursday.
