Moto Z2 Force will be thinner and have smaller battery capacity than its predecessor

Motorola so far this year has focused on budget smartphones, but now the company is all set to launch its first top-end flagship of the year. Dubbed Moto Z2 Force, it will be unveiled at an event in New York on July 25.

Now just a few days before the official launch, Evan Blass has shared a new render, along with details of the Moto Z2 Force. Earlier this year @Onleaks revealed that the Moto Z2 Force will measure 5.9mm around the waistline, making it slimmer than its predecessor Moto Z, that was 7mm thick, and Blass confirms the same. This to reduce the bulk of the phone when Moto Mods are attached. But its slimness will come at a cost.

Motorola is said to sacrifice the battery capacity, as Moto Z2 Force will reportedly pack a smaller 2730mAh battery, that is 22 percent smaller than Moto Z's 3500mAh battery. Blass. The 3.5mm audio jack will again get a miss.

The new render again confirms that Moto Z2 Force will have metal body, and the body will have water-repellent nano-coating so that it can withstand light splashes. It will have dual-cameras at the back w/ dual-tone LED flash, a selfie flash on the front, fingerprint scanner (gesture-based, same as Moto G5), 16-pin connector for attaching the Moto Mods and USB Type-C port.

As for the other specs, According to Blass, Moto Z2 Force will have 5.5-inch QHD Super AMOLED shatterproof display, Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform, 12MP dual cameras and 5MP front camera. It will arrive in three versions 4GB RAM/64GB storage for the U.S market, 6GB RAM/128GB storage for the China market and 6GB RAM/64GB storage for the rest of the world. It will run Android 7.1.1 and support Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi 802.11ac and NFC for connectivity.

The Moto Z2 Force is said to come in Super Black, Fine Gold and Lunar Grey color. As mentioned earlier the unveiling event takes place on July 25 and will start at 11:00am EST (8:30pm IST). Motorola is also expected to introduce new Moto Mods, and there is a slight chance of Moto X4 and Moto G5S Plus also making an appearance.
