Samsung to reportedly unveil the Galaxy Note8 on August 23

A report last month suggested that Samsung will launch its Galaxy Note flagship in August or September. Now a fresh report coming out of South Korea claims that Galaxy Note8 will be announced on August 23, ahead of IFA in September. The Galaxy Note8 event is said to be taking place in New York city.

An early release of Galaxy Note8 will give it a headstart and make the device broadly available in global markets by September, before, Google's Pixel 2 phones and Apple's iPhone, both of which are expected to be announced in after August.

Meanwhile, a recent report said that Samsung's current flagship Galaxy S8 is selling 20 percent less than the Galaxy S7. The South Korean tech giant has reportedly managed to sell 9.8 million units in the first two months, which is 20 percent less than Galaxy S7's 12 million units sold. The slowdown in sales is also said to be the reason for the Galaxy Note8 early launch.

According to earlier reports, the Galaxy Note8 will be Samsung's expensive smartphone to date carrying a price tag of €999 in Europe and around $900 in the US (Rs. 72,000/Rs. 58,000 respectively).

The Galaxy Note8 is said to have 6.3-inch screen, slightly bigger that Galaxy S8's 6.2-inch, but have the same edge-to-edge AMOLED Infinity display with 18:9 ratio. It will come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipsets, depending ont the market, 6GB RAM, fingerprint scanner, 3300mAh battery and dual-camera setup. The dual-camera system at the back will be stacked horizontally and consist of two 12MP sensor with dedicated optical image stabilization for lens.  Other features expected are support for DeX Dock, heart rate sensor, iris scanner, Bixby voice assistant, improved S-Pen, and Black/Blue/Gold color options.

It's worth mentioning that Samsung has not yet confirmed an official unveiling date. We can expect the South Korean tech giant reveal a launch date soon.
