WhatsApp now lets you share any file you want
WhatsApp has been on a roll this year, enriching its popular messaging app with new features to make it more appealing to users.
In the latest update, WhatsApp improves file sharing functionality by adding support for all types of file transfers (including archives) as well as shared media bundling. The feature were being tested in WhatsApp beta for Android since last month.
Earlier you could only share image video, audio files as well as PDF, Word documents, Excel sheets, Power Point slides and location. But now you can share just about any file types you want including APKs and ZIP, given that the file size is under 100MB. Also you can share photo or videos without being compressed.
Another change in the new WhatsApp update is shared media bundling. Now when you send or receive multiple photos or videos consecutively in a conversation, they will be automatically grouped into a single album, instead of multiple-in line photos and videos. The multiple images will be displayed within a tile in the conversation screen.
The update also brings minor change to WhatsApp call screen. Now to pick up a call, you have to swipe up instead of sideways. All these features are available on version 2.17.261 of WhatsApp, which is available for download from Google Play Store.
