Nokia 5 India sales begin August 15


The Nokia 5 was supposed to go on sale in India last month, but it was delayed until mid-August due to production issues. Now just in time for India's 71st Independence Day, HMD Global has announced that Nokia 3 will go on sale in the country starting tomorrow August 15. It will be available through offline stores.

The list of cities where the Nokia 5 will be available starting Tuesday includes Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, and Calicut. More cities will be added into the mix eventually.

The Nokia 5 is a budget smartphone carrying a price tag of Rs. 12,499, and come in Matte Black, Silver, Tempered Blue and Copper hues. The launch offers include 5GB data per month for three months at Rs. 149 per month for Vodafone users, and up to Rs. 2,500 discount (Rs. 1,800 on hotels & Rs.700 off on domestic flights) on MakeMyTrip.

In terms of specifications, the Nokia 3 includes 5.2-inch HD display, Snapdragon 320 chip, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, 13MP/8MP cameras and 3000mAh battery. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the box, but the brand has promised upgrade to Android 7.1.1.

Apart from Nokia 5, there are two more Nokia branded smartphones: Nokia 3 and Nokia 6. The Nokia 3 is already available in the country at Rs. 9,499, while the Nokia 6 will be online exclusive, and will be sold via Amazon India starting August 23
