Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A will have selfie flash, dedicated slots for dual-SIM, microSD card


Xiaomi will launch its latest budget smartphone Redmi Note 5A next week in China. The company has already shared official photos of the device, and now it has confirmed a few details as well.

It appears that Redmi Note 5A will be a selfie-centric device. It is said to come with 16MP front camera, and for the first time in Xiaomi phones, there will an LED flash as well, for capturing better selfies in low-light conditions. The Redmi Note 5A is expected to come in more than two variants, and the front camera specs is most likely for the high-end version.




Next, the Redmi Note 5A will have a triple-slot design, meaning that, the phone will have dedicated slots for dual-SIM and microSD card, again a first timer for Xiaomi phones. Previously, Redmi line up devices had hybrid dual-SIM slots, wherein you can either use dual-SIMs, or a SIM and microSD card.

As for the other specs, the Redmi Note 5A recently appeared in TENAA with two models: MDE6 and MDE6S. As per the listing, both will run Android 7.1.1 based MIUI 9, and come with 5.5-inch Full HD display and 3000mAh battery.

The MDE6 will pack Snapdragon 425 chip, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and 13MP/5MP cameras. It will not have fingerprint scanner. 

The MDE6S on the other hand will feature Snapdragon 435 chip, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, 16MP main camera and fingerprint scanner.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A will be announced on August 21, and the event will kick-off at 7:30pm China time (5pm IST).
