Android Oreo beta program for Galaxy S8/S8+ starting soon
Earlier this month, SamMobile reported that Samsung has started working on Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. Now the same publication is reporting that, the South Korean tech giant would soon launch a Android Oreo beta program for the Galaxy S8 & S8+.
Two new Oreo firmware version G950FXXE1ZQI7 and G955FXXU1ZQI7 for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ were spotted, and are said to be beta builds, with the letter "Z" indicating beta release. Samsung used the same letter Z on the beta Nougat releases for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge last year.
Samsung introduced beta program for its devices for the first time last year, starting with Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, allowing users to signup to test its unreleased software before the official roll out.
As of now there are no details on when Samsung will launch this new Android 8.0 beta program for their Galaxy S8 and S8+, but the company will aim to push the update faster once Oreo is out of beta.
Besides Samsung, OnePlus and Nokia are also testing Android Oreo on their flagship products OnePlus 3/3T and Nokia 8 respectively. It will be interesting to see who will roll out the stable Oreo release first.
