Airtel's Rs. 199 plan offers 1GB data, unlimited voice calls for 28 days

Airtel has come out with a new tariff plan of Rs. 199 for its existing prepaid subscribers, that is on-par with Reliance Jio's Rs. 149 plan.

The new Rs. 199 plan offers 1GB of 2G/3G/4G data along with unlimited local and STD calls for 28 days. However, the unlimited calls has been capped at 300 minutes per day and 1,200 minutes per week.

For comparison, Jio's Rs. 149 plans offers 2GB data and unlimited voice calls for 28 days. As an added bonus there is no limitation on voice calls.

In addition to the aforementioned plan, there's also a Rs. 178 plan, which is applicable to new users and offers the same benefits. New Airtel customers can avail this offer with first recharge or second recharge.

Ever since, Reliance Jio set foot into the telecom sector, with aggressive offers and pricing, incumbent telecom operators have been playing catch up game. Last month Airtel launched Rs. 399 pack that offers unlimited voice calls and 1GB data per day for 28 days.

In related news, last month Airtel became the second telecom operator in the country, after Reliance Jio, to launch VoLTE services starting with Mumai, and promises to offer pan-India VoLTE service by the end of March 2018.
