Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 India launch set for October 10
Last month, Xiaomi unleashed the futuristic looking bezel-less Mi MIX 2 in China. It also confirmed that the device will be making its way to the Indian market soon.
Now Xiaomi India has finally announced local launch date. The company has scheduled an event on October 10 in New Delhi to launch the Mi MIX 2.
The Mi MIX 2 will be the first flagship offering to the Indian market, since the launch of Mi 5. To remind you, the China based device maker have been launching several popular budget devices such as Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 4, Redmi 4, Mi A1 and their variants which helped it cement its place as one of the top five smartphone brands in the country. With Mi MIX 2, Xiaomi will look to tap in the upper mid-range segment, and compete with Nokia, OnePlus, Samsung, Honor, among others.
Speaking of Mi MIX 2, it takes the eye-catching bezel-less design to a whole new level. Designed by notable French designer Philippe Starch, the Mi MIX 2 has even more slimmer bezels than its predecessor Mi MIX, which started the bezel-less revolution. It has zero bezels at the top, edge and bottom resulting in a screen to body ratio of whooping 95 percent. For comparison, the Mi MIX had a screen-to-body ratio of 87 percent.
The Mi MIX 2 also boasts high-end hardware including 5.99-inch Full HD+ 18:9 DISPLAY, Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB/8GB RAM, 64GB/128GB/256GB, 12MP Sony IMX386 rear camera, 5MP front camera, fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C port, NFC and 3400mAh battery. It runs the latest Android Nougat based MIUI 9 out of the box.
In China, the Mi MIX 2 prices start at CNY 3299 (Rs. 32,500) for the 6GB/64GB variant and goes up to CNY 4699 (Rs. 40,000) for the top variant featuring 8GB/128GB RAM/storage. It is not clear which variant Xiaomi will sell in India, but it is highly likely to be the one with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. We will get to know details regarding the local pricing and availability next Tuesday.
