Airtel expands 4G VoLTE to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana

Airtel has expanded its VoLTE services to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana circle, which means Airtel customers in these circle owning a 4G handset can now enjoy HD voice calls through VoLTE.

As a reminder, Airtel VoLTE services became operational back in September starting with Mumbai, followed by Madhya Pradesh, Chhatisgrah, Gujarat and Maharashtra & Goa. The telecom operator is also testing VoLTE in Bengaluru, and the services is likely to go live soon. Airtel aims to roll out the services across the country by March 2018.

Airtel's VoLTE services promises seamless connectivity and in the case of non-availability of 4G, Airtel VoLTE calls will automatically switch to 3G/2G network. Another benefit of VoLTE is that you'll be able to continue your 4G speed Internet session, while the call is in progress.

To enjoy Airtel's VoLTE services, you will need to have 4G/LTE enabled smartphone, and Airtel 4G SIM. Customers with dual-SIM phone have to ensure that Airtel 4G SIM has been inserted in the SIM slot 1, and network mode has been set as "4G/3G/2G (Auto)". Users can even call any mobile and landline network using VoLTE.  There will be no additional data charges for VoLTE and calls will be billed as per existing plan or packs benefits.

It's worth mentioning that even though most of the handset launched now-a-days are VoLTE ready, the device maker need to upgrade the phone's software to support Airtel's VoLTE services.
