Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 in the works, confirms CEO

Xiaomi's Mi Pad tablet line up like the company's Redmi series phones, are value for money devices boasting decent specs at a reasonable price. So far, the Chinese device maker has launched three models: Mi Pad, Mi Pad 2 and Mi Pad 3.

To recall, the Mi Pad 3 was silently launched back in China back in April 2017, and Xiaomi recently removed it from the website in China, leading to rumors that Xiaomi may not release the successor of Mi Pad 3.

However, now it appears that the rumors were false, and Mi Pad 4 is happening.

Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jun took to Chinese micro-blogger website to confirm that the Mi Pad line up is not dead. He further stated that Xiaomi has begun work on the next-gen Mi Pad.

Additionally, he also revealed that Mi Pad 3 is no longer available on Xiaomi's Mi eStore because, the tablet has been completely sold out. However, Jun did not reveal if the company is planning on replenishing the stocks of Mi Pad 3.

To recall, the 6.9mm slim metal-clad Mi Pad 3 has 7.9-inch (2048 x 1536 pixels) retina display, hexa-core MediaTek MT8176 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, 13MP/5MP cameras, USB Type-C port and 6600mAh battery. It shipped with MIUI 8, and carried a price tag of CNY 1499 (Rs. 14,000).

As for the Mi Pad 4, rumors has it that, the tablet will sport a 2-in-1 design, which means it will come with a detachable keyboard, so that you can use it as a laptop. It is also said to support dual-booting for Android OS and Windows, 4G LTE and include voice calling capabilities. Sadly, it is not known when Mi Pad 4 will be announced.
