First Ubuntu Powered Phone BQ Aquaris E4.5 to Go On Sale On February 9
The world's first Ubuntu Phone - BQ Aquaris E4.5 will finally go on sale In Europe on February 9 in Europe. Canonical has partnered with mobile makers to launch the first Ubuntu powered device in Europe.
Ubuntu Phone will change the way we interact with our smartphone and apps. Rather than laying out all apps separately in grids with Android and iOS platform, The Ubuntu Phone will come with a new UI called 'Scopes' which will integrate various apps and services into an easy to use interface.
Coming to its specs, The BQ Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition features a 4.5-inch display, 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, microSD slot, 8-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera.
The BQ Aquaris E4.5 runs Ubuntu Touch and Ubuntu 15.04 and comes pre-loaded with apps like Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, Yelp, Time Out, eBay and Cut the Rope. Additionallty there will be third party apps for Dropbox and Spotify.
The BQ Aquaris E4.5 will go on sale across Europe for €169.90 (Rs. 11,000 ; $194) via flash sale. The website where the sale will take place and exact time of sale will be revealed at @Ubuntu and @bqreaders on Twitter. You can also purchase the device with a SIM bundle from telecom operators like 3 Sweden, amena.com in Spain, giffgaff in the UK and Portugal Telecom.
