Mobile World Congress 2015 : What to expect ?


One of the biggest tech events in the mobile industry - Mobile World Congress will officially open its doors on March 2. The event will be held in Barcelona and key players from the tech industry will be showcasing their products.

HTC and Samsung will unveil its next flagship, which will be the talking point of the show. However it will not be surprising as images of both handset have already been leaked. LG will showcase its Urbane G watch and four new budget smartphones that the company unveiled earlier this month. Microsoft may launch a handful of mid-range smartphones and demo Windows 10 for phone.
 

Sony Xperia fans will be disappointed as the company will not unveil its next flagship device. But Hey cheer up it will be presenting a tablet and a mid-range smartphone. Lenovo will also try to impress the audience, it has a slew of devices up for announcement.

HTC - One M9, M9 Plus and first wearable device codenamed Petra

HTC is expected to announce the M9 Plus and its first werable device codenamed Petra alongside the company's flagship HTC One M9. The event will take place on March 1 at 20:30 (IST)

The HTC One M9 design is already seen in leaked images and videos. The HTC One M9 appears to be same as the One M8 but it includes powerful hardware, new software and better front and rear camera. The power button is now situated on the side of the phone.

The HTC One M9 is rumored to feature 5-inch IPS display with 1080p screen resolution, powered by QUalcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB DDR4 RAM, 32GB/64GB inbuilt storage, 20.7-megapixel rear camera, 4-megapixel Ultrapixel front camera and 2840mAh battery. It will run Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with HTC Sense 7.0UI on top.  HTC has partnered with Dolby in order to pack Dolby 5.1 audio technology. HTC has added a new feature called HTC connect that will let you use a 'three finger swipe' to stream music and video.

The M9 Plus is expected to feature the same specs, but with larger display - 5.5-inch.
 

HTC's first wearble codenamed Petra is also expected to be announced. The device will feature 1.8 inch (320x160) POLED display. It will be powered by ST Micro STM32L151 chipset. HTC has not opted for the Android wear OS, instead the device will runs HTC's custom rom. It sports a battery that is rated to delive 3-days battery life and is IP57 certified. 

Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge
 

South Korean tech giant  Samsung's next flagship device Galaxy S6 will be unveiled at 'Galaxy Unpacked event' scheduled for March 1 alongside Galaxy S6 Edge.

Samsung's own teaser video and posters indicates that Samsung Galaxy S6 will have slim design. So far, the rumored specs of the Samsung Galaxy S6 include 5.1-inch QHD display, Exynos 7 octa-core processor, 3GB RAM, fingerprint sensor and Android 5.0 Lollipop. Samsung could make use of LoopPay's technology on Galaxy S6 which they recently acquired. The device will also have a touch-opertaing fingerprint sensor which is an update over the previous swipe base one.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge will sport Curved edge on two sides, like the Galaxy Note 4 Edge. The specs of the device is still a mystery.




Sony - Xperia M4 Aqua and Xperia Z4 tablet 

Sony will launch two devices that include  Xperia M4 Aqua smartphone and  Xperia Z4 tablet.

The Xperia M4 Aqua is rumored to feature 5.2-inch 720p display, 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 610 backed by 2GB of RAM, 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera and will run Android 5.0 Lollipop. It is water and dust-proof with IP65/68 rating.

The specifications of the Xperia Z4 tablet is still a mystery but an accidental leak on the official Xperia Lounge application suggests that that it will feature a "ultra fast processor," 2K display and "industry leading battery performance.


Microsoft

Microsoft could unveil low-end and mid-range smartphones at MWC. If rumors are true, Microsoft will unveil four new Lumia handsets. RM-1031 with 4-inch display, RM-1072 with 5-inch display, RM-1109 and RM-1113.

Microsoft may also demo Windows 10 for smartphones and may show off some new hardware.


LG - Watch Urbane and four mid-range smartphones

LG will be showcasing Watch Urbane smartwatch and four new mid-range smartphones. All these devices were announced earlier this month.

The LG Watch Urbane will come in two variants - standard and LTE. The LG Watch Urbane features 1.3-inch P-OLED display with narrower bezel, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB eMMC, dust and water resistant (IP67), 410mAh battery, the usual suite of sensors and a Heart rate sensor.

The LTE variant of Watch G Urbane come with a voLTE voice calling support and supports NFC-based mobile payments. It has the same 1.3-inch (320x320) pixels P-OLED display and metal build and packs 1GB RAM and is backed by a 700mAh battery.
 

The company will also be showcasing mid-range smartphones - LG Magna, LG Spirit, LG Leon and LG Joy alongside LG Watch Urbane at MWC 2015.

Lenovo - six new smartphones
 

Lenovo's MWC 2015 smartphones portfolio include Lenovo Vibe Shot, Vibe Max, Vibe X3, Vibe S1, Vibe P1 and Vibe P1 Pro. 

Huawei

Huawei will hold a press conference just before MWC 2015 door opens. The company will showcase its 4.5G Smartband which has been revealed in a pre-show in London. The smartwatch supports 4.5G LTE and can handle speed upto 1GB per second.
