Pebble Launches New Color-Display Smartwatch 'Pebble Time'


Pebble unveiled a new smartwatch with colour screen monitor called the Pebble Time exclusively on Kickstarter. It features a colour e-paper display, a new software, a new slimmer design and is water resistant. It also has a battery life of 7 days without the display ever going dark to save power.

The Pebble time has a microphone that lets you send voice replies for notifications or take short voice notes. On Android sending voice replies work with apps like SMS, Hangouts, Gmail, FB Messenger, Whatsapp and many more. For iOS voice replies are currently limited to Gmail notification , the company will add more apps in the future.

The Pebble time is 20% thinner than the orginial Pebble smartwatch at just 9.5mm and has a curved deisgn. The display is made out of Gorilla Glass with the bezel being made of stainless steel.

Pebble has include a soft silicone band with each Pebble Time which include a quick-release pin, letting you swap bands in under 10 seconds. It also has smart accessory port, enabling developers to build sensors and smart straps that connect directly to watch. but it should support any 22mm watch band. Pebble Time comes in three colors: 
  • Black watch case and silicone band with black PVD stainless steel bezel
  • White watch case and silicone band with silver PVD stainless steel bezel
  • Red watch case and silicone band with black PVD stainless steel bezel

Pebble is also launching a brand new timeline interface that lists your notifications, news, reminders and event in chronological order.

The Pebble Time is on Sale via Kickstarter and costs $159 or $179 for kickstarter backers and is expected to ship in May 2015. It will cost $199 when it will land on retail stores.

The Pebble Time on Kickstarter is going very strong, the project is way past the $500, 000 goal in just 20 minutes.
