Blackphone 2 is built to offer enterprises privacy without compromise
Silent Circle announced a new privacy-first Android Smartphone called Blackphone 2 and the world's first privacy focused tablet - Blackphone+ at MWC 2015.
The Blackphone 2 runs a highly customised version of Android OS with the company's proprietary PrivatOS 1.1 on top. It lets users to assign different logins for different sections inside the device like using a seperate login for document-related apps and different login for communication apps. It also allows users to make and receive secure calls, store files securely, browse internet via anonymous VPN and send encrypted message.
The BlackPhone 2 comes with a set of secure application called Silent Suite which is a core set of applications that enable private, encrypted communication that offers peer-to-peer key negotiation and management. It includes Silent Phone, Silent Text, Silent Contacts, Silent Store, Silent World, Silent Manager, and Silent Meeting.
Coming to its specs the Blackphone 2 features a 5.5-inch full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by a 64-bit octa-core processor paired with 3GB RAM. It is backed by 3060mAh battery with Quick Charging features and supports 4G LTE. No other details were revealed.
The Blackphone 2 is priced at $649 and will go on sale in Q2 this year.
In addition, Silent Circle also announced Blackphone+, the world's first privacy focused tablet that will be built with next generation technology. It features 7-inch display and will be powered by Qualcomm chipset. No other details were revealed. The company says that Blackphone+ tablet will arrive later this year.
