Pebble unveils a stainless steel version of the Pebble Time
After a successful kickstarter campaign of Pebble Time the company at MWC 2015 unveiled a stainless steel version of the watch. Called Pebble Time Steel, it is a beautifully designed watch with improved battery life.
Pebble has already raised over $12 million for the Pebble Time on the crowed-sourcing website, Kickstarter that is way higher than $500,000, the company pledged for.
The Pebble Time Steel hits Kickstarter today, head over to the Pebble Time page for more info. You can reserve the Pebble Time Steel for a pledge of $250 or more. The watch is expected to be launched in January and is priced $299 (Rs. 18,000)/
The Pebble Time Steel features the same software as the Pebble Time, but has a stainless steel case, leather and stainless steel straps and bigger battery that will deliver up to 10 days of run time.
Features of Pebble Time Steel
- CNC-finished 316L stainless steel casing.
- Premium leather and stainless steel strap.
- Up to 10 days of battery life.
It will be available in three variants - Silver case with a stone leather band, Gunmetal black case with a black leather band and Gold colored case with a red leather band.
Existing Pebble Time backers can pledge more money if they want to switch to the Pebble Time Steel. Once done you cannot switch back to your original Pebble Time.
In addition Pebble also announced a new modular hardware accessory system called Smartstraps for the Time and Time Steel. The Smartstraps allows accessory makers to come up with add-ons for the smartwatch. Smartstrap draws power from the Pogo pin on the back and could add GPS, heart rate monitor, NFC, battery extension to name a few.
